My Food Philosophy

Let’s face it, good food and  fine wine are the joys of life, and I would never dream of depriving myself from them. However, it’s all about balance. I love trying new recipes and giving them a “healthy spin”, and if for some reason I can’t then i’ll portion control. All I know is, we don’t have to sacrifice good food just to be healthy. It’s the small changes that make a big difference. For example, choose whole grain bread over white bread… use rice milk instead of cow’s milk…fill up on veggies instead of empty calories…(should I keep going?). It’s important to eat close to the source and choose foods that are whole, fresh and in season. I try to stay away from too many processed foods, sometimes it’s a challenge.  If  food is available from a drive-thru window, you probably won’t see me there. My meat of choice is fish and I try to stay away from all the others. I’ve accepted the fact that dessert is my weakness and I embrace it ;) .  Being picky about the foods you eat and the portions you allow really does make a healthy difference.
